About Derrière le Miroir:

The long running French Art Magazine "Derrière le Miroir" was published from 1946 until 1982 (253 issues). Established and edited by Aime Maeght, the French art dealer featured artists exhibited in his gallery, including: Georges Braque, Alexander Calder, Henri Matisse, and Vassily Kandinsky.

About the artist:

Bram (Abraham Gerardus) van Velde was a Dutch painter known for an intensely colored and geometric semi-representational painting style related to "Tachisme" and "Lyrical Abstraction." He is often seen as a member of the "School of Paris," but his work resides somewhere between expressionism and surrealism. In the 1960s, his work evolved into expressive abstract art.
