The long running French Art Magazine "Derriere le Miroir" was published from 1946 until 1982 (253 issues). Established and edited by Aime Maeght, the French art dealer featured artists exhibited in his gallery, including: Georges Braque, Alexander Calder, Henri Matisse, and Vassily Kandinsky.

About the artist:

Raoul Ubac was a German-born French painter, sculptor, photographer, and engraver. He had various irregular artistic training and traveled in Europe between 1928 and 1934. He briefly attended the Sorbonne to study literature before moving onto the Art Academy of Montparnasse, where he first encountered Surrealism. Ubac worked mostly on photography between 1934 and 1942, where he embraced Surrealism in Paris and took photos for the magazine Minotaure.
