About this piece:
A monotype is created by first painting onto a flat surface. After applying the ink to the plate, the artist lifts ink from the composition, creating areas of negative space. This process can involve using q-tips, rags, fingers, etc. The wet painting is then pressed onto paper. The work is usually fast-paced, spontaneous, and intuition driven.
