About the Henri Matisse:
Henri Matisse was born 1869. He originally trained as a lawyer, but decided to become a painter and began studying at Academie Julian in Paris in 1891, where he learned from William Bouguereau and Moreau. Initially Matisse focused on painting landscapes and still-lifes in a traditional style. But after meeting artist John Russell, Matisse's style changed. He began to produce work influenced by the impressionist movement and artist Paul Cezanne. Matisse's style further evolved as he began to use strong colors and lose some of the realistic qualities of impressionism. Picasso and Matisse were good friends.
