About this piece:
This original print comes from the Nicolas wine brochure "Rose et Noir" (Pink and Black), published in 1931. The piece was created by French illustrator and designer Paul Iribe, best known for his wide ranging influence in fashion and his Art Deco costume, furniture, and fabric designs. In "Rose et Noir," Iribe used the resources of photography to treat his own drawings in an original way. These fuzzy photograms enhanced with white gouache aimed to demonstrate the harmful effects of the American cocktail on the organism and the offspring of a young couple.
