Matteo Caloiaro and Brooke Olivares-Caloiaro are artists/painters and instructors at Ringling College of Art and Design (the college they both claim as their alma mater) based in Sarasota, FL. Though growing up in two very different places, Matteo in Orlando, FL and Brooke in San Diego, CA, they share very similar artistic tastes and influences. Their painting styles are similar yet uniquely distinct from one another. Matteo’s work tends to be a bit looser, more shape-based, and impasto, whereas Brooke’s work tends to be a bit more controlled, refined, and less impasto.
Brooke and Matteo share a passion for family, cooking, and travel. These themes are often present in their work. Many of their landscapes (seen here in their category) were painted on-location during their travels. They strongly advocate (both in their own work and teaching) to paint from one’s own life experience and background. In their opinion, painting from the heart is painting in its truest form.
They are represented by several galleries here in the states and their paintings are part of numerous private and corporate collections in the U.S. and Europe. They are both award winning artists at both the national and international level. Matteo and Brooke consider themselves tremendously blessed by God to be able to follow their calling as painters.
